As a member of our growing QA team you will be responsible for inspecting parts, documenting findings and preparing inspection test reports.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the completion of incoming and outgoing inspection of parts produced and received in the machine shop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist operators in interpreting quality requirements and provide measuring assistance as required.
  • Inspect parts and document findings.
  • Prepare, complete and assemble all required documents and certificates.
  • Raise non-conformances to MRB (Material Review Board)
  • Maintain an electronic file for all quality documentation associated with client orders where same is required.
  • Program CMM/Visual inspection system
  • Review shop routers to ensure that
    • All manufacturing processes are completed and signed off by operators
    • Any discrepancies are accounted for
    • Any deviations notes in general notes have been applied

  • Maintain inspection and quality department tooling inventory
  • Clean and flag gauges, instructions and QA equipment for repair/replacement/external calibration
  • Calibrate inspection tooling and maintain calibration log
  • Contribute to quality improvement
  • Follow health and safety procedures

Authority

  • Identify parts that shouldn’t proceed to next production stage due to quality concerns
  • Sign Certificates of Compliance as delegated by Quality Assurance Manager

Expected Deliverables and Outcomes

  • Prioritize to meet scheduled delivery dates.
  • Maintain calibration system.
  • Take ownership and accountability for their work

Experience & Key Skills

  • College diploma in related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of experience in mechanical inspection.
  • Experience in a relevant field (machinist, sheet metal fabricator)
  • Strong knowledge of inspection practices
  • Knowledge of calibrating inspection tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting ability
  • Knowledge of Solidworks Inspection considered an asset
